Downtown Tampa is about to get a lot louder and a lot more agave. Atlanta-born taqueria Rreal Tacos is moving into the former Haiku space at 808 N. Franklin St, with plans to open this fall. The fast-growing chain has built its reputation on high-energy dining rooms, street-style tacos and a serious tequila and mezcal program that tends to turn grand openings into full-on party nights back in Georgia.
Downtown site and timing
According to the Creative Loafing Tampa, the new Tampa outpost will take over the old Haiku Tampa address at 808 N. Franklin St. The company has not committed to a firm opening day yet, publicly describing the debut only as happening “this fall,” which gives them a little wiggle room as construction plays out.
Menu and reputation
The Rreal Tacos website currently lists 11 locations across Georgia and a menu that leans hard into street-style staples. Expect tacos, burrito bowls and salads alongside a birria pizza that has become one of the brand’s more talked-about items.
“Our goal has always been to treat the bar with the same intention and authenticity as the kitchen,” Beverage Director and Partner Arturo Salgado said in a press release, as reported by Creative Loafing Tampa. That approach to agave spirits helped the concept land on Food & Wine’s 2023 list of the best places in the country to drink tequila.
Investment and local filings
On the paperwork side, Florida business filings show RREAL TACOS TAMPA LLC was formed in November 2025, with its principal address listed as 808 N. Franklin St. That registration signals the Tampa push is fully in motion behind the scenes.
In a company release distributed to media, Rreal said it plans to sink roughly $2.5 million into the downtown build-out and described the Tampa restaurant as the first of several locations it hopes to open around the Tampa Bay area, as noted in a press announcement on PR.com.
What to expect
Company representatives told local outlets that construction is underway and that hiring announcements and preview events will roll out in the coming months. The Tampa Bay Times reported that the brand is aiming to be open by the end of the year.
The Tampa location page is not yet live on Rreal’s site, so for now the chain’s website and social media channels are the best places to watch for an official opening date and job postings.
