The Equip and Thrive Grant, also known as the EAT Grant, provides up to $5,000 to support food and beverage businesses in Macomb County. According to Macomb County website, the funding helps businesses purchase equipment or upgrade technology.
Businesses must apply and meet eligibility requirements. Three recipients so far include Champagne Chocolates, Eataliana Homemade Pasta, and Brown Iron Brewhouse.
Champagne Chocolates used the grant to develop an online store with assistance from a local web company. Eataliana Homemade Pasta purchased a pasta-making machine to increase production efficiency. Brown Iron Brewhouse applied the funding toward on-site canning equipment, including technology from Michigan-based Oktober Can Seamers.
The program is administered by Macomb County Planning and Economic Development, which continues to encourage eligible businesses to apply.
