A 33-year-old man was arrested yesterday in connection with the alleged sexual assault and robbery of a 14-year-old girl in a Manhattan apartment complex. According to Gothamist, the New York Police Department, in coordination with the U.S. Marshals New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force, apprehended Germaine Parham outside the city. His precise location at the time of the arrest was not disclosed.
Parham, who is reported to be currently homeless, faces multiple charges, including rape, robbery, and predatory sexual assault. He has a long criminal history, with more than two dozen prior arrests. An outstanding bench warrant had been issued for Parham after he failed to appear in court on a recent theft charge at a Midtown Manhattan CVS.
The assault occurred last Thursday in the victim's Stuyvesant Town building, around 11:40 a.m. The girl was attacked and had her cellphone stolen before being taken to a hospital for treatment. While the precinct covering Stuyvesant Town recorded a slight increase in reported rapes compared with the previous year, citywide figures for such crimes have remained consistent, based on city data cited by Gothamist.
Following Parham's arrest, the Stuyvesant Town residential complex, known for its upscale amenities and high rent, announced plans to enhance safety measures for residents. In an update obtained by The New York Post, the administration stated that they had been informed by the NYPD about the arrest and expressed gratitude for the department's efforts. The complex said it will increase public safety patrols and install building entrance call buttons connected directly to the community’s safety office.
Parham faces multiple charges, including five counts of rape, as well as attempted assault, kidnapping, and criminal possession of a weapon. He was previously convicted of a knifepoint robbery in November 2025, for which he served a 30-day jail sentence.
