
An altercation outside a bar in Detroit's Corktown neighborhood escalated into gunfire early Saturday morning, resulting in a man being injured after a confrontation with a security guard, according to local authorities. The incident took place near UFO Bar, located at the 2100 block of Trumbull Avenue close to Michigan Avenue, as reported by CBS News Detroit. The police were called to the scene around 1:17 a.m., where they found that the man, after a dispute with the security personnel, had produced a gun and initiated the shooting.
The security guard, a licensed Concealed Pistol License (CPL) holder, responded to the threat by firing back, striking the man, who was later hospitalized; his condition remains undisclosed, according to information obtained by Audacy and CBS News Detroit. In the midst of this chaotic confrontation, no other injuries were reported, and police recovered both weapons used during the incident.
The responding security guard was detained but later released pending investigation, FOX 2 Detroit reports. Police have not disclosed what sparked the dispute, and the investigation is ongoing. No additional injuries or bystanders were reported.
