A violent altercation in Monroe, Michigan, resulted in a man being shot while two children were present in the vehicle, but unharmed. The incident took place on Monday night, around 8:08 p.m. in the 600 block of Michigan Avenue.
According to CBS News Detroit, the man who sustained injuries was in a confrontation with another driver in a silver sport utility vehicle. A dispute escalated, leading to the victim being shot while inside his car by one of the two males who had approached him, the police reported. The children in the car, ages 14 and 11, were fortunate to escape injury.
The suspects fled the scene after the shooting in the same vehicle. The victim, whose identity has yet to be disclosed, was rushed to a local hospital. He is reported to be in stable condition. WXYZ notes that the three suspects associated with the incident were apprehended in Adrian, Michigan, thanks to a coordinated effort among Monroe police, Michigan State Police, and Lenawee County authorities.
Remarkably, all three handguns believed to be related to the shooting were recovered. We thank the public for their patience as this process continues and appreciate the cooperation provided by the victim's family and others involved, the Monroe Police said in a statement. In a social media post cited by WTVG, the department reassured the public that there is currently no threat to the community.
