The City of Marietta is seeking citizen participation in shaping the 2028 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) project list. Residents can offer their input on the multimillion-dollar initiative through a series of public meetings scheduled for the coming weeks. The 2028 SPLOST, which will follow the 2022 SPLOST, is expected to generate approximately $78.2 million for the city, with projects approved by the Mayor and City Council last Wednesday, February 11.
According to the city's official announcement, residents are encouraged to engage with city staff, provide feedback and gain insights into the proposed plans. The meetings will take place at various locations, starting with the first gathering on March 5 at the Cobb County Civic Center, followed by another on March 31 at the Marietta Transportation Office and, the final one on April 16 at the City Hall Council Chambers. Each session aims to facilitate a two-way dialogue between citizens and city officials to refine and optimize the project list.
Those interested in reviewing the 2028 SPLOST project list in advance can do so online at the City of Marietta's document center. The public input gathered through these meetings is not only a cornerstone of civic engagement, but also an opportunity for the community to direct the allocation of the projected SPLOST revenue. The city has established channels for feedback submission, inviting citizens who cannot attend the meetings to express their opinions via email at [email protected].
