St. Anthony High School in Wailuku will stop offering grades 9 through 12 after the 2025–26 school year, graduating its final high school class. Current high school students can complete the year without interruption, while the parish shifts focus to younger students and new programs.
The school will continue preschool through eighth grade with a new multi-age classroom model and an emphasis on Hawaiian studies and an expanded Sports Academy. Families interested in these grades were asked to apply online by March 15 and can contact the school office with questions, according to Maui Now.
Programs That Will Remain
The school’s enrollment page spells out application steps, tuition adjustments and program updates for 2026–27, including expanded Hawaiian language offerings and an academy-style athletics option, according to St. Anthony School. Returning families are directed to register through the FACTS portal, where they can also find information on scholarships and tuition assistance.
Why This Is Happening
The move follows years of shrinking enrollment at the 177-year-old campus. Reporting last summer put total K–12 enrollment at about 147 students and early re-enrollment at roughly 99 students, which is well below the approximately 250 students officials said would be needed to break even, according to Maui Now. That earlier reporting also detailed the Sports Academy plan, led by two-time U.S. Olympian Vernon Patao and coach Nikki Musto, along with facility upgrades that were meant to help attract new families.
How Families Can Apply
Families can start or update applications through St. Anthony’s online portal, where the admissions page offers step-by-step guidance for both new and returning students. The school lists its main office phone as 808-244-4190 and an email of [email protected] for questions, according to St. Anthony School. Campus events and outreach geared toward strengthening the lower grades are expected to continue while school leaders sort through long-term options for the high school program.
