The delay encompasses a wide range of functions, including the Department of Social Services (DSS) Child, Family, and Adult Services, as well as essential hotlines which will continue to operate round-the-clock for cases of abuse or neglect. Individuals are urged to report any concerns regarding seniors or the disabled by contacting 704-336-CARE (2273), and in instances involving children, reaching out to 980-31-HELPS (43577).
Additionally, community resource centers such as the Valerie C. Woodard and Ella B. Scarborough centers, along with the Department of Community Support Services and Public Health, will hitch their respective shingles at noon. The revised schedule also extends to the Land Use and Environmental Services Agency, Elections Office, and Tax Collector and Assessor’s Offices, among others.
Leisure opportunities will face a truncated day; Park and Recreation operations, inclusive of recreation and senior centers, parks, nature preserves, and nature centers plan to swing open their doors at noon and shutter them at 5 p.m, the Library locations across Charlotte Mecklenburg are expected to follow a similar schedule.
