Monday, February 16, 2026 — Memphis rolled out of bed under a blanket of thick, patchy fog this morning, with a Dense Fog Advisory locked in until 9 a.m. CST. In some spots, visibility has dropped to about one-quarter mile or less, turning the early drive into more of a crawl. Once the haze lifts by mid-morning, skies are expected to turn mostly sunny, with afternoon temperatures topping out near 64°F.
What To Know For The Morning Commute
Drivers can expect low visibility and slick spots, especially on bridges and in low-lying neighborhoods, so it is a good idea to build in some extra travel time. The National Weather Service advises motorists to slow down, stick with low-beam headlights, and leave plenty of room between vehicles. Local airports could also deal with lower ceilings and restricted visibility through mid-morning, with conditions improving later today.
Warming Trend And Wind Potential
A building ridge is set to crank up the thermostat by midweek. Highs are expected to reach near 67°F on Tuesday, around 70°F on Wednesday, and climb into the mid-70s on Thursday, which is near-record territory for parts of the Mid-South. According to the National Weather Service, south-southwest winds will pick up from Tuesday through Thursday, with gusts potentially hitting 25–35 mph, and a Wind Advisory may be needed Thursday afternoon. A frontal system arriving late Thursday into Friday should bring a chance of showers and a few thunderstorms, although widespread severe weather is not expected at this time. If you are planning outdoor events on Thursday, you might want to start earlier in the day or choose a more sheltered spot to avoid the strongest gusts.
