Miami residents might need to swap out their sunglasses for sweaters as the weather takes a brisk turn. Despite a high near 74 degrees today, a cold front is poised to sweep through the area. According to the National Weather Service, "a chance of showers" is expected between noon and 4 pm with winds picking up speed, possibly gusting as high as 24 mph. This temporary warmth will transition into a cooler evening with forecasts suggesting mostly clear skies and a low around 44 degrees.
In line with the cooling trend, NBC Miami reports a "cold weather advisory on Thursday night for inland Broward and Miami-Dade." Temperatures are predicted to drop significantly, reaching the mid-40s across most of Miami-Dade and Broward counties, and the 50s for the Keys. The wind chill factor could further plummet temperatures, making it feel as though it's in the 30s, and even touching the 20s farther inland.
Looking ahead to Friday, while the thermostat may be reluctant to rise, sunshine is on the agenda. Highs are expected to struggle to get out of the 60s, but clear skies are anticipated throughout the day. As the weekend approaches, a gradual warming is forecasted. Mornings will begin in the upper-40s on Saturday, advancing to mid-50s by Sunday, and highs will comfortably settle in the 70s with plenty of sunshine, as mentioned by both sources.
This pattern of sunny but cooler conditions is typical for South Florida's winter, suggesting that locals and visitors alike should gear up for a brief spell of crisp, but ultimately mild weather. "Sunny, with a high near 73," states Monday's outlook from the National Weather Service, signaling a return to more customary conditions as the new week commences. Meanwhile, evenings are expected to remain "mostly clear," with lows hovering around the high-50s to low-60s mark.
