Miami is starting Friday, Feb. 20, 2026, on the mild side, with mostly clear skies and temperatures near 70°F at Miami International Airport. The stage is set for a classic warm South Florida day, with coastal highs climbing into the upper 70s to around 80°F and even hotter readings expected inland.
Foggy Start, Sun-Soaked Finish
Areas of patchy to locally dense fog are likely across interior neighborhoods and parts of Southwest Florida early Friday and again late tonight, with visibility in spots dropping to a quarter mile. Once the sun gets to work after sunrise, most of that fog should lift, giving way to mostly sunny afternoons and light southeast breezes that help turn the day a bit muggy.
Warm Weekend Before Sunday Cooldown
The warm setup sticks around through Saturday, with coastal highs holding near 78 to 81°F and inland spots pushing into the mid to upper 80s. A cold front is slated to move through Sunday afternoon into Sunday evening, bringing a chance of showers and ushering in breezy northwest winds Sunday night into Monday, with gusts near 25 to 30 mph. Much cooler and drier air follows early next week, and Tuesday morning, Feb. 24, is expected to be the coolest, with inland lows possibly dipping into the 30s and coastal lows in the 40s.
Beach Rip Risk And Rougher Seas Ahead
A high rip current risk will continue for the Palm Beaches through this evening, with a moderate risk for other Atlantic beaches and seas building behind the front late Sunday. That guidance comes from the National Weather Service Miami, and swimmers and boaters are urged to follow lifeguard instructions and posted warnings.
Plan Your Drives And Weekend Plans
Drivers should allow extra time for early morning commutes while fog lingers, and anyone hosting or attending outdoor events on Sunday should keep a backup rain plan. For more background on the recent fog and surf advisories, see our foggy commute and surf alerts.
