Opening today in SoHo, Or’esh is a new restaurant from Catch Hospitality Group, the team behind Corner Store and the Eighty Six. The restaurant is led by Michelin-starred chef Nadav Greenberg and focuses on Mediterranean cuisine with a contemporary approach. Robb Report offered an exclusive preview of the interior, which features a maximalist design without explicit Mediterranean references, placing emphasis on the food.
The menu at Or’esh features a variety of dishes, many of which are prepared using the restaurant’s custom charcoal grill, which is reportedly used for around 70 percent of the offerings. Eugene Remm, founder of Catch Hospitality Group, told Robb Report that the team is exploring new approaches in their culinary offerings. The grill, which took six months to construct, reflects Greenberg’s childhood experiences and requires skill to manage due to its variable heat.
The menu includes dishes ranging from Jerusalem bagels to a New York Strip prepared with 77 layers of wagyu, reflecting Mediterranean culinary traditions with a modern approach that emphasizes quality ingredients and straightforward preparations. Eater notes that the offerings include grilled sweetbreads, spicy spinach gomiti, and shrimp spaghetti, among other dishes that present a variety of flavors and textures.
Remm told Eater that the collaboration with Greenberg brings a distinct culinary perspective. The restaurant, designed by Rockwell Group, has a capacity of 80 guests across a dining room and bar, with the coal-fired kitchen visible from the upper-level dining area through a window.
