It's not just about saving lives, but also about bragging rights when Milwaukee's first responders face off in the "Battle of the Badges." In a show of camaraderie and a bit of friendly rivalry, the Milwaukee Police Department and the Milwaukee Fire Department are going head-to-head to see who can donate the most blood. This blood drive, planned for February 25, offers a reward for those rolling up their sleeves: a free ticket to a Milwaukee Admirals hockey game.
In an effort to seriously boost blood donation numbers, the MPD is using their platform to challenge the community and their firefighting peers to join in. According to a social media post by the Milwaukee Police Department, the goal is not only to "kick the Milwaukee Fire Department's butt" but to also save lives through donations. "All attempting donors will receive an Admirals Code to redeem for one #FREE ticket to any home game in Feb or March," the department touts.
Those interested in contributing to their department of choice can sign up via a dedicated link provided by the Versiti Blood Center of Wisconsin. The link, featured in the MPD's Facebook announcement, directs potential donors to a page where they can promptly schedule their appointment to donate.
