Montgomery County commuters using Ride On Bus services should prepare for schedule disruptions on select Sundays. Due to ongoing Metrorail construction affecting the Medical Center Metro Station, bus loops closures will divert buses on Routes 34 and 46 to different bays. According to an update published on February 19th by the Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT), the closures are a part of a series that will continue through Spring 2026.

During the impacted Sundays, buses that normally travel Route 34 to Wheaton and Route 46 to Montgomery College Rockville will pick up passengers at Bus Bay H (stop #25504), while those heading to Bethesda on Route 34 and to the Medical Center on Route 46 will use Bus Bay G (stop #25646) located on Rockville Pike. The bus loops will be closed from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., with the next closures scheduled for March 1, March 8, and May 3. Weekday routes 30, 33, 70, and Ride On extRa 101, fortunately, will not feel the weight of these disruptions as they do not operate on Sundays.

Good news for riders is the implementation of a zero-fare policy on all Ride On, Ride On extRa, Ride On Flex, and Flash buses which took effect last June 29. More information on the revised routes and services can be found at the RideOnBus.com website or by downloading the Ride On Trip Planner app.
