The Montgomery County Department of Permitting Services (DPS) is slated to host its annual Stakeholders Forum, drawing professionals from across the building industry to discuss updates and enhancements in the permitting process. Scheduled for Tuesday, March 3, the forum will unfold at the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC) building located at 2425 Reedie Drive, Wheaton. From architects to developers, engineers to land use attorneys, a wide array of industry stakeholders are expected to attend.
Doors for the event, which runs from 9 to 11:30 a.m., open at 8:30 a.m., signaling the start of an informative session that aims to cover various topics critical to construction and development in Montgomery County. Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich emphasized the significance of the forum, stating, “Safety, sustainability, and exceptional customer service are at the foundation of everything we do at DPS for businesses, homeowners, and organizations,” according to a statement.
Among the anticipated highlights of the upcoming forum are an overview of the state of permitting, a review of key data and performance metrics, and updates on the latest energy and fire codes. Also on the agenda are discussions on housing updates with a focus on Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs), office conversions, and new County development initiatives. The forum will also include an interactive panel discussion with a Q&A session, offering attendees the chance to engage directly with DPS leaders and technical experts.
DPS Director Rabbiah Sabbakhan said, “This is the third year that we’ve hosted the DPS Stakeholders Forum.” Adding, “It’s a great opportunity to connect face-to-face with industry peers, community partners, and key internal and external stakeholders,” as per the same release. With space at a premium, interested parties are encouraged to register by Friday, Feb. 27, to secure their spot at the event.
