A 23-year-old Morganton man is facing a slate of serious charges after a search warrant on Hogan Street ended with his arrest on Feb. 11, authorities said. Corbin Lane McAdams was taken into custody, booked into the Burke County jail and held on a $250,000 secured bond following the operation at a home on Hogan Street.
In a press release via the Burke County Sheriff’s Office, investigators said Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) detectives identified online activity they say was consistent with the distribution of child sexual abuse material and that the probe began in December. According to the release, the sheriff’s office worked in coordination with the Morganton Department of Public Safety and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation as the case developed.
Search warrant, charges and booking
According to reporting by WCNC, deputies served a search warrant at 223 Hogan Street on Feb. 11 and arrested McAdams, 23. He was charged with 10 counts of felony second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, then booked into the Burke County Jail and given a $250,000 secured bond. Court records reviewed by the outlet show his first appearance was set for Wednesday.
What the law covers
North Carolina law defines second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor to include recording, distributing or otherwise handling visual depictions of minors engaged in sexual activity, and it is codified at G.S. 14-190.17. Related sections of the state code also criminalize possession and distribution of obscene visual representations of minors, per the North Carolina General Assembly.

Local reporting shows Burke County authorities have recently carried out a series of multiagency operations driven by cyber-tips and ICAC leads, resulting in multiple warrants and arrests. One such sweep, reported by WECT, resulted in dozens of arrests and multiple executed search warrants as agencies targeted high‑risk offenders.
