Claw Boba Snack has landed in Cleveland’s AsiaTown, swapping out gray winter streets for neon lights, plush toys and cups of sugary milk tea. The new arcade-style boba counter lines its walls with claw machines, pairs them with bubble tea and imported snacks, and gives families and teens a brightly lit hangout when the weather is anything but inviting.

Opening Jan. 13 at 3133 Payne Ave., Claw Boba Snack packs more than 20 claw and prize machines into the space, along with a counter serving milk teas, slushies and prepackaged snacks. The prizes and snack lineup change often to keep regulars guessing, according to Cleveland Magazine.

A neon escape from winter

Inside, the vibe leans more pastel dreamscape than Cleveland in late February. Soft-colored lighting, upbeat décor and rows of glowing machines pop against the city’s seasonal gray. WKYC video from inside the shop shows a space that feels like a weather-proof shortcut to summer.

From Mango Mango to claw machines

The Payne Avenue storefront did not start out as an arcade. The address at 3133 Payne Ave. was previously home to Mango Mango, a dessert shop that Cleveland Scene reported closed on Aug. 31, 2025 amid a franchise dispute. Now, the same location is being reworked as a grab-a-drink-and-stay-awhile spot, with the owners gambling that arcade traffic will give the Payne Avenue corridor a fresh kind of foot traffic.

What’s on the shelves and inside the machines

In the rows of claw machines, visitors will find plushies, blind boxes and keychains, while the counter turns out taro, Thai and classic milk teas. Manager Ben Lin told Cleveland Magazine that the team imports snacks from across Asia and swaps them out about every two weeks so the selection never gets stale. “Claw machines are everywhere in Asia, but I don’t see much of it in Ohio,” Lin said, adding that the owners hope to introduce party packages and, if things go well, expand to more spots in Northeast Ohio.

Why it matters for AsiaTown

AsiaTown has long served as Cleveland’s hub for Asian food and culture, with events and programming, including the Cleveland Asian Festival, drawing steady crowds to Payne Avenue. Materials from the Cleveland Asian Festival highlight the corridor’s busy food scene, and the owners say Claw Boba Snack is meant to slot into that lineup as a place to linger after a meal or warm up between errands.

Whether visitors show up chasing a plush prize or just a Thai tea, the new spot is already giving AsiaTown another winter draw. For now, expect rotating goodies in the machines, bright lights on Payne and a steady stream of small surprises at the counter.
