In a move to tackle the increased vehicular hustle brought forth by area development, the N.C. Department of Transportation is set to bring a new traffic signal system to life at the N.C. 16 and Millersville Road intersection in Alexander County. According to a recent announcement, this enhancement is slated for activation on the morning of Monday.
According to the N.C. Department of Transportation, Barry Cross, deputy division traffic engineer for Alexander and its environs, emphasized the expected improvements, stating, "Adding signals to this intersection will improve traffic flow and enhance safety on one of Alexander County's major thoroughfares." The signals, which were installed earlier this week, are currently set to a flashing mode in anticipation of their full operation come Monday.
The intersection has been targeted for upgrades as growth has increased traffic in the area. The new signals are intended to improve traffic flow and safety.
