Gyro Hut is heading south to Manvel, with a new storefront slated to arrive this summer as state permit filings point to a buildout wrapping by the end of July. The New York style gyro chain, which has been expanding quickly across Greater Houston, lists a local franchisee to run the new outpost. If construction stays on track, the Manvel shop will join a growing pack of fast casual spots at the town center.
Permit filings set timeline and scope
According to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, a TABS filing (Project TABS2026010892) lists Gyro Hut at 21716 State Highway 288, Suite 102 in Manvel, with construction scheduled to start April 30, 2026, and finish on July 31, 2026. The record calls for an estimated $150,000 renovation of roughly 2,030 square feet of leased space. The same filing names the tenant as "Gyro Hut – Bilal Syed," identifying the local franchisee tied to the project.
Franchisee named; company voice
What Now Houston spoke with Gyro Hut operating partner Mehran Khan, who confirmed that Bilal Syed will helm the Manvel eatery and said the rollout is "about more than opening new restaurants, it's about investing in the community." The outlet also noted it reached out to Syed for comment but did not hear back by publication.
Brand roots and local footprint
Local reporting traces the concept to a New York food truck before the owners moved operations to Texas and opened a Plano storefront in 2017, a timeline outlined by Community Impact. That path helps explain the chain's focus on New York style gyro meat, grilled proteins, and house sauces as it scales across the region.
How Manvel fits into the plan
The new Gyro Hut is slated for Manvel Town Center, a fast growing shopping hub that has attracted national anchors such as Lowe's and H-E-B. Hoodline's coverage of recent openings and big-box interest in the center has tracked that surge in retail attention. That momentum is one reason quick serve operators are lining up for space in the area.
Menu and next steps
Khan told What Now Houston that the Manvel menu will lean on New York style gyro meat, freshly grilled proteins, crisp vegetables, and house made sauces, with consistency across locations a priority as the brand grows. With the TDLR timetable in place, Gyro Hut's team and the local franchisee are expected to begin tenant improvements in late April and roll out hiring and grand opening details as construction nears completion.
We will track the buildout and share updates on hiring, hours, and an official opening date as those details firm up. For now, permit records and company comments all point to a summer 2026 debut for Manvel.
