The North Ridgeville City Schools recently took to social media to herald the completion of the first round of "The Amazing Shake," a competitive event aimed at honing the social prowess of their 7th graders. As described in their North Ridgeville City Schools Facebook post, the students engaged in a series of real-world simulations that covered everything from dining etiquette to job interview strategies, all designed to fortify their abilities in communication, confidence, eye contact, and professionalism.
The commendable event, which saw students traversing the metaphorical roads of Dining Drive, Appointment Alley, and Interview Lane, was cast as both a gauntlet and a gateway, the school expressed pride in the "hard work and growth" of the students as they sharpened vital social skills all year long, and now the top 64 performers have their sights set on round two, set for March. Although the task was steeped in the gravity of real-world interaction, it remained, at heart, an opportunity for these young individuals to parlay their newfound competencies into action, in a space where childhood and the cusp of adulthood coalesce into a tableau of potential.
