Two people were killed in an early-morning shooting on Milwaukee’s north side, after gunfire erupted near North Sixth Street and West Vienna Avenue just after midnight. Officers were called to the area around 12:25 a.m. Saturday, where a 38-year-old victim was pronounced dead at the scene and a 22-year-old was rushed to a hospital and later died, according to police.
Milwaukee police told WISN 12 News that officers responded to reports of gunfire but had not announced any arrests. Anyone with information is urged to contact Milwaukee Police at 414-935-7360 or Crime Stoppers at 414-224-TIPS.
Homicide trend remains a concern
The deadly shooting comes as city leaders continue to grapple with a stubborn rise in homicides, even as nonfatal shootings have declined. Wisconsin Public Radio reported that Milwaukee recorded 142 homicides in 2025, up from 132 in 2024, based on police data.
Neighbors and investigators respond
Residents on the north side have been rattled by repeated scenes of violence in recent weeks. A separate double homicide was reported Feb. 15 near North 12th Street and West Concordia Avenue, where a North 12th and Concordia double homicide drew a heavy police presence and emotional reactions from neighbors, as documented by Hoodline.
How to help
Investigators in the latest case are canvassing the neighborhood for witnesses and reviewing surveillance footage as the search for a suspect continues. As of Saturday morning, no arrests had been announced, the department reiterated to WISN 12 News.
