Two North Side businesses were robbed at gunpoint within about half an hour Sunday evening, leaving workers rattled but physically unharmed, according to police. In both cases, two masked men walked in, demanded money and took off in a waiting vehicle before officers arrived. Area Three detectives are now working to piece together the hits.
Police: Same Crew, Same Getaway Car
A Chicago Police Department community alert, reported by FOX32 Chicago, says the first robbery went down just after 5 p.m. in the 4700 block of North Marine Drive in Uptown. There, the suspects ordered cash into a bag. Roughly 30 minutes later, officers say the same crew hit a business in the 3000 block of North Clark Street in Lake View and left with the entire cash register. In both cases, one of the men showed a handgun, according to the alert.
What They Took And Who Police Want To Find
In Uptown, the robbers grabbed cash from the register. In Lake View, they reportedly upped the ante and carried off the full till. Authorities describe the suspects as two Black men between 20 and 40 years old, last seen driving a black Chevrolet Equinox. No injuries were reported in either robbery.
A Robbery Pattern That Feels All Too Familiar
The quick back-to-back hits fit a pattern that neighbors on the North Side have been worried about. Clustered armed robberies have cropped up in recent months, keeping both workers and residents on edge. A June 2025 roundup by Block Club Chicago highlighted four armed robberies in roughly 30 minutes across Lakeview and Lincoln Park, showing just how fast crews can move when they target multiple storefronts.
How To Share Tips With Detectives
Anyone with information is asked to call Area Three detectives at (312) 744-8263 or leave an anonymous tip at CPDTIP.com, referencing case number P3-26-005. No arrests have been announced, and investigators are canvassing the surrounding blocks for cameras and witnesses, according to FOX32 Chicago.
Detectives have also asked business owners between North Marine Drive and North Clark Street to review their Sunday evening security footage and share anything useful with police. Officers are reminding the public to call 911 immediately in an active incident and not to confront anyone who is armed. This story will be updated as more information comes in.
