A Jacksonville man in his late teens is fighting for his life after being shot multiple times inside an apartment on Broward Road on the city’s Northside late yesterday morning. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said the gunfire broke out just before noon during what appears to have been a robbery attempt, leaving a quiet residential stretch shaken as the victim was rushed into surgery with life-threatening injuries. Detectives quickly moved in, going door to door for video and eyewitness accounts while the young man remained in critical condition at a local hospital.
According to News4JAX, JSO said the shooting happened just before noon and that the victim was taken straight into surgery after arriving at the hospital. Investigators are canvassing the area for surveillance footage and talking with neighbors as they work to piece together what happened inside the apartment and who pulled the trigger.
Recent Incidents on Broward Road
An earlier shooting on Broward Road in January, when a man who answered a knock at his door was shot twice and survived with non-life-threatening injuries, was reported by Action News Jax. That case, along with the Feb. 13 attack, underscores a string of isolated Northside shootings that has detectives continuing to search for leads.
