Thornton police and the FBI are asking for the public’s help tracking down a man who robbed a Vectra Bank branch at 4151 E. 136th Ave. on Feb. 9, then slipped away in a stolen red pickup. Investigators say the suspect handed a teller a note demanding cash, took the money and walked out without injuring anyone. The truck was later found, but the man who drove it is still nowhere to be seen.
Suspect description and investigation
Police describe the suspect as a Black man, about 5 feet 10 inches tall and roughly 200 pounds. At the time of the robbery, he was wearing a dark jacket over a gray hoodie, a black-orange-yellow knit cap and a bandana-style face covering. The FBI Rocky Mountain Safe Streets Task Force is working the case alongside the Thornton Police Department, according to KDVR.
Vehicle recovered
Investigators say the robbery is tied to a stolen red 2007 Chevy Silverado that served as the getaway vehicle. Law enforcement later recovered the truck during the investigation and noted that it had visible modifications, according to El Comercio de Colorado.
