Police are conducting an expanded search for four individuals connected to a shooting in the Mott Haven neighborhood that resulted in a woman being injured. According to News 12 The Bronx, the incident occurred around 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday in front of 383 E 143rd Street. The NYPD reported that a man took a firearm from a woman’s purse, and was then joined by others who discharged weapons at a group of people.
A 38-year-old woman was struck by gunfire and sustained serious injuries. She was taken by EMS to NYC Health and Hospitals/Lincoln, where she is currently receiving treatment. The suspects fled east along 143rd Street and entered the nearby Diego Beekman Houses. Authorities reported that all were wearing black clothing.
The NYPD Crimestoppers is requesting public assistance regarding the incident. According to a Facebook post, the shooting took place shortly after 4:18 p.m., when male suspects displayed firearms and fired multiple rounds. The post urges anyone with information to contact the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline.
Law enforcement is actively seeking the suspects involved in the incident and is encouraging anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers.
