The overnight commute took a major hit as traffic stacked up and emergency crews worked the wreck. According to WFTV, the crash happened in the northbound lanes of I-95 at mile marker 241 near Indian River Boulevard in the Edgewater area. Online records list the wreck as coming in around 11:27 p.m. last night, and as of early today the northbound lanes were still shut while troopers investigated.
Traffic and response
ClickOrlando (WKMG) shared early video from the scene that showed crews working on the highway and labeled the incident a fatal crash, urging drivers to steer clear of the area until the road could be cleared. ClickOrlando also folded the closure into its rolling traffic updates for morning commuters.
Recent disruptions on the corridor
This latest shutdown is just the newest headache on that stretch of I-95 in Volusia County. Two days earlier, officials said a brush fire sparked by a vehicle blaze burned multiple cars at a campground and forced a temporary closure of the interstate, as reported by Fox 13 Tampa Bay.
