Patti Smith, 79, is making a rare small-room Twin Cities stop when she hits the Parkway Theater in south Minneapolis on March 14, the night after a St. Paul book event. She will be joined onstage by longtime bassist Tony Shanahan and her son, guitarist Jackson Smith. With roughly 360 seats, the Parkway’s intimate scale turns the show into a close-up chance to see the poet-rocker, with advance tickets going on sale at noon today, Friday, Feb. 27.
Parkway gig and tickets
According to The Parkway Theater, the March 14 performance is set for 7 p.m. (doors at 6 p.m.) and went on sale Friday, Feb. 27, at 12 p.m. CT. The venue lists advance general admission at $100 ($120 with taxes and fees) and $110 at the door, and notes that all ticket purchases are final and non-refundable.
Book an appearance in St. Paul
Smith is also scheduled for a Magers & Quinn Booksellers presentation at St. Catherine University’s O’Shaughnessy Auditorium on March 13, billed as “an evening of songs, stories, and solidarity,” according to The O’Shaughnessy at St. Catherine University. That event page lists a face-value price of $48.90 and notes that each ticket includes a copy of her new memoir, Bread of Angels.
A rare intimate stop
At 79, Smith has been selective about public dates; her last Twin Cities performance was an outdoor gig at Surly Brewing Festival Field in 2021, per the Star Tribune. The Minneapolis engagements line up with her tour in support of Bread of Angels, which was published last November by Penguin Random House.
Expect a quick sell-out
Venue listings place the Parkway’s capacity at roughly 360 people, so advance seats are likely to disappear quickly. For confirmation, listings such as Bandsintown show the theater’s capacity at that scale. If primary sales sell out, secondary marketplaces are the likely fallback for latecomers hoping to squeeze in.
