
A fatal incident occurred in New Castle, where a pedestrian was tragically struck and killed by a vehicle. According to the New Castle Police Department, the accident took place on Sunday evening at the intersection of Wilmington Road and Edison Avenue. As reported by WPXI, the crash was reported at around 6:30 p.m last night., and one person was transported to a hospital from the scene.
Chief David Cumo of the New Castle Police Department later confirmed the fatality, stating, "Our hearts go out to this person and their family." Found at the scene were a stopped vehicle, a shopping cart, and groceries scattered about the area, with the road closure anticipated to be for "an extended period of time," as detailed by WPXI. The New Castle police urged drivers, as echoed in a statement obtained by CBS News, to seek alternative routes and avoid the region of the crash.
The investigation is currently ongoing, conducted by New Castle police, and is being assisted by the Pennsylvania State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Specialists unit. The identity of the victim was not yet released as officials were still processing the tragic event.
