In a somber turn of events in Pittsburgh’s Greenfield neighborhood, 27-year-old Aaron Charles Martin stands accused of homicide after his sister, 26-year-old Charlee Martin, was found dead from gunshot wounds. According to WPXI, the charges were filed this Wednesday following the discovery of Charlee Martin's body inside an apartment on the 700 block of Montclair Street on Sunday.
The police investigation was prompted by three separate 911 calls throughout the weekend, with concerns for the siblings' welfare. The calls indicated that Aaron Martin may have been experiencing a mental health crisis and was suspected to be off his medication. On each visit prior to the grim discovery, the police reported they were unable to contact anyone at the residence. Charlee Martin had been absent from her job since last Tuesday, her employer disclosed to investigators, as stated in the criminal complaint.
Upon obtaining a search warrant for the apartment, authorities located Charlee’s body, having been shot five times, and Aaron Martin was found also within the room. In WTAE's report, they noted that the brother was hiding in his sister’s room when police made their discovery.
Compounding the tragedy, Aaron Martin allegedly confessed to the shooting of his sister. A detailed account of the confession has not been made public as of yet. Now, he is facing charges of criminal homicide and abuse of a corpse and is currently being held at the Allegheny County Jail, according to police statements.
