In a recent operation by the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, a man with a significant criminal history was taken into custody. According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office's Post, 54-year-old Kenneth Allan Smith, who has been previously convicted 54 times, was arrested after detectives found him with a firearm. The arrest took place on February 9, when deputies were called to an address on Gordon Road in Riverview regarding a barricaded subject.
According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office's Post, Smith reportedly threatened a witness and was found in possession of a firearm during the investigation. He resisted arrest, but no violence occurred. Sheriff Chad Chronister said, “Individuals with extensive violent criminal histories who continue to disregard the law will be held accountable,” and praised deputies for quickly removing a firearm from someone who should never have had one.
The Sheriff’s Office emphasized public safety and enforcing gun laws for individuals with criminal histories. The department did not disclose details of Smith’s threats or barricade, but stressed preventing potential harm due to his prior convictions and illegal firearm possession.
