San Antonio rolled into February 8, under clear skies and a brisk start in the mid-40s, but the cool feel will not last long. Temperatures are expected to jump into the upper 70s this afternoon, with light south-southwest winds and partly sunny skies helping push the metro toward a high near 786F, as reported by the National Weather Service.
Morning Fog Risk
The warmup comes with a catch: patchy to locally dense fog is possible before 8 a.m. Monday, February 9, especially along and east of I-35. Forecasters are also eyeing the potential for record highs later in the week.
According to the National Weather Service Austin/San Antonio, a moist southerly flow and low clouds will favor fog early in the day, while a stubborn upper-level ridge could nudge daytime readings into the low-80s by Thursday, February 12.
Small Rain Chances, Mostly Dry
If you have outdoor plans, the odds are in your favor. There is only a slight chance of rain Tuesday night into Wednesday and again late Friday into Saturday, so most events and errands should stay dry.
This continues the warm pattern that has been building across the area; for more on how this started, check out our earlier look at the sneaky winter warm-up.
What To Know
Plan for conditions that feel more like early spring than mid-February. Bring water and sunscreen for outdoor plans, since UV levels and temperatures will run higher than a typical February day.
If you are driving early in the day, especially Monday, use low-beam headlights in fog, slow down, and leave extra travel time. Travelers heading out overnight Monday into Tuesday should keep an eye on flight status in case low clouds or fog cause delays.
