A Friday evening trip to the mall took a frightening turn when one person was shot outside the Westfield Culver City shopping center, according to Culver City police.
The gunfire broke out near the Macy’s by the mall’s north parking lot. Officers and paramedics treated the wounded person at the scene, and police quickly taped off the area, keeping shoppers and drivers back while they worked.
Police: Scene and Response
According to CBS Los Angeles, multiple law-enforcement agencies responded to assist Culver City officers. As detectives combed through the scene, police said they had not yet found a suspect or suspects.
Officers asked the public to steer clear of the area around 6000 Sepulveda Boulevard while the investigation was underway, turning a busy commercial stretch into an active crime scene.
Past Incidents at Westfield Culver City
Westfield Culver City, formerly known as Fox Hills Mall, has dealt with trouble before. The shopping center has previously seen shootings and large brawls that triggered heavy police responses, according to reporting from ABC7 Los Angeles.
