Chaos briefly took over a busy East Side intersection Tuesday after a man was shot in the leg near East 71st Street and Harvard Avenue in Cleveland, according to a short social-media video from the scene. The clip shows bystanders crowding around the wounded man as emergency crews pull up, set out a stretcher and get him ready to be moved. Medics then load him into an ambulance and head to a nearby trauma center, while officers appear to detain a person at the scene.
What the video shows
According to a Facebook Reel posted by the Cleveland, Ohio Remembrance Page, the victim was conscious and breathing when medics put him into the ambulance and took him to the nearest trauma center, and an apparent suspect was in custody. The Reel’s caption identifies the location as East 71st and Harvard and timestamps the post early Tuesday. The clip does not include the victim’s name or the alleged suspect’s identity.
Violence in the corridor
The E. 71st and Harvard corridor has seen other shootings in past years. A 2012 bar fight that spilled into the street left a man shot multiple times, as reported by WOIO. More recently, a fatal shooting on nearby East 71st Street in January underscored persistent violence on stretches of the East Side.
Investigation and next steps
The Reel is the first public account of the incident we found, and neither the post nor its caption included names, charges or a hospital statement. Any official updates, including potential charges, are expected to come from the Cleveland Division of Police or the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office as investigators continue their work.
