Osage County deputies say a weeks-long online probe ended before sunrise Friday when they arrested 19-year-old Logan Patrick Roberts at a home west of Skiatook on child sexual abuse material charges.
Roberts is accused of buying, possessing and distributing child sexual abuse material and of violating the Oklahoma Computer Crimes Act. Investigators say the case is still active as detectives work to determine whether there are additional victims.
According to the Osage County Sheriff's Office, deputies served a search and arrest warrant after receiving an Internet Crimes Against Children tip from the Tulsa County Sheriff's Office in January and conducting weeks of follow-up investigation. The agency says Roberts was taken into custody without incident and taken to the Osage County Jail.
In a statement on its website, the Osage County Sheriff's Office stressed that the case is still in its early stages, writing, “This is an arrest, not a conviction.” The office said detectives are continuing to investigate in an effort to identify any additional victims or related offenses.
Charges and What They Carry
Osage County lists three counts tied to the arrest: buying, possessing or procuring child sexual abuse material, distribution of obscene material or child sexual abuse material, and a violation of the Oklahoma Computer Crimes Act.
Under state law, creating or distributing child sexual abuse material is a felony that can bring fines and prison time, and certain offenses involving minors carry significantly longer mandatory ranges. The Oklahoma Computer Crimes Act also allows felony penalties when a computer is used. Those statutes are outlined in Title 21 of the Oklahoma Statutes and 21 O.S. § 1958, which are published on Justia and Justia.
Investigation and Next Steps
Roberts is being held on a $150,000 bond at the Osage County Jail, as first reported by FOX23. The sheriff's office publicly thanked the Tulsa County Sheriff's Office for its assistance and said investigators will keep working through digital evidence and coordinating with prosecutors on formal filings.
The sheriff's office again emphasized that an arrest is not a conviction and asked anyone with information to contact law enforcement while the probe continues. Authorities say they plan to release additional details if and when prosecutors file charges.
