Drivers in South Philadelphia should expect disruptions starting today. The Philadelphia Streets Department announced parking restrictions along South Broad Street from Washington Avenue to Oregon Avenue beginning at 7 a.m. to allow for a snow-lifting operation.

The city is offering free off-street parking at Parking Lot U near Citizens Bank Ballpark from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Vehicles must be removed by 6 p.m., according to the Streets Department.

Those maneuvering through or around the South Broad region are advised to allocate a generous buffer to their ETA. The Streets Department is underscoring the essence of safety—pleading for a slowdown and some elbow room for the crews as they dig and deliver the snow to its final winter resting place.

The city has deployed more than 300 vehicles, including front-end loaders and excavators, organized into 16 teams for its snow-lifting operation. Crews are clearing snow from narrower streets, moving it to major roadways, and hauling it to snow storage sites across the city. According to the Streets Department, the operation has been ongoing since Sunday.
