St. Louis is enjoying a taste of spring on Tuesday, with sunny skies and highs reaching the low 60s by early afternoon. A cold front is expected to move through later, bringing temperatures down to the mid-to-upper 50s by evening and shifting winds to the north overnight. That means T-shirt weather around lunchtime, followed by a cooler drive home, so keeping a light jacket handy is recommended.
Afternoon and Tonight
Expect a high near 62°F before temperatures drop to around 55°F in the late afternoon as west winds of 6 to 12 mph shift to the north behind the front. Tonight will be much cooler, with partly cloudy skies and a low near 31°F, along with north winds of 6 to 9 mph. Roads should remain dry overnight, though gusts may be noticeable on exposed bridges and in elevated neighborhoods. The National Weather Service reports no watches or warnings are currently in effect for the metro area.
Sharp North–South Split
The front will create a sharp temperature contrast this afternoon, with northern suburbs staying in the lower 50s while parts of southeast Missouri may reach the 70s—a difference of up to 20 degrees. Forecasters say the split is due to the timing of the boundary and stronger mixing ahead of it, making a short drive south feel like a shift in seasons. Rain chances remain low through Friday, but the pattern becomes more unsettled over the weekend, with the National Weather Service noting increasing rain chances from Saturday into early Sunday across much of the region.
Looking Ahead
Saturday offers the highest chance for measurable rain, with around a 50 percent likelihood during the day and rain expected Saturday night into Sunday, which could affect outdoor activities and weekend events. Temperatures are set to rebound next week, with highs climbing back into the upper 50s by Monday. It’s a good idea to keep an umbrella handy for the weekend and monitor updated forecasts if you have outdoor plans later this week.
