A man's body was discovered in Boca Ciega Bay in St. Petersburg, initiating an ongoing death investigation by the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office. Found yesterday near the Jungle Prada boat ramp, the deceased, identified as 50-year-old Jeremy Allen Franklin, was still equipped with a life jacket when recovered. Further into the investigation, a small overturned boat, presumed to have belonged to Franklin, was spotted south of the War Veteran's Memorial Park boat ramp by a PCSO flight unit. In the same vicinity, a vehicle with a boat trailer attached was discovered in the parking lot. Franklin had recently bought a small homemade vessel, as per findings of detectives, and ventured out into the water alone. A spokesperson for the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office conveyed to 10 Tampa Bay News, the death "does not appear suspicious. There is no threat to the public."
The area surrounding Jungle Prada de Narváez Park grew into the focus of a separate but potentially related incident as deputies discovered another dead man in the vicinity of Park Street North and Elbow Lane. Despite the fact that the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office has not released further details at this juncture, FOX 13 News has disclosed that deputies are actively investigating the case at the scene.
