Mister O1 Extraordinary Pizza, the Miami-born chain with a cult following for its star-shaped pies and long-fermented dough, is heading to The Bowl at Ballantyne in south Charlotte. The new spot brings a full-service pizzeria to the neighborhood’s growing dining hub and serves as the brand’s big entrance into North Carolina, with the Ballantyne shop billed as a regional flagship, as reported by Charlotte Business Journal.
According to the Charlotte Business Journal, the Ballantyne location will span about 3,400 square feet and is expected to open this fall. The outlet also reports that Mister O1 is eyeing additional North Carolina locations once the Ballantyne restaurant is up and running.
What Mister O1 Brings To The Table
As outlined by Mister O1, the concept launched in Miami Beach under Chef Renato Viola and leans into artisanal, thin-crust pizzas made with extended fermentation. The brand already lists locations across Florida, Georgia and Texas, with Charlotte tagged as “Coming Soon,” signaling that Ballantyne will be its local beachhead. Diners can look for the chain’s signature star-shaped pies and a burrata-heavy lineup that have helped define its menu elsewhere.
Where The Bowl Fits In Ballantyne's Mix
The Bowl at Ballantyne is Northwood’s new dining, retail and entertainment district on the east side of the campus, steadily filling out with a mix of national and regional concepts. GoBallantyne lists Mister O1 alongside tenants such as North Italia, Flower Child, Olde Mecklenburg Brewery and Postino, positioning The Bowl as one of the neighborhood’s go-to spots for eating out and catching events. Adding Mister O1 layers in another full-service option that could pull pizza fans from across south Charlotte and beyond.
Timeline And What To Watch
Construction and interior build-out are set to play out over the coming months, with the Charlotte Business Journal reporting a fall opening target. Mister O1 and GoBallantyne remain the best places to watch for updated timelines and hiring details as plans are finalized.
