El Pastor es Mi Señor, the San Antonio taquería celebrated for its Mexico City-style al pastor, is gearing up to bring its cult-favorite tacos to the North Side with a second outpost in Stone Oak. Co-owner Brenda Sarmiento confirmed that the new kitchen is nearly ready, though the team is still waiting on final inspections and has not announced an opening date. The sibling-run spot has quietly built a loyal following since it opened four days before San Antonio’s 2020 dining room shutdowns, according to CultureMap San Antonio.
As reported by CultureMap San Antonio, the second location is headed to 19211 Huebner Rd in Stone Oak and was confirmed directly by Brenda Sarmiento. In a text quoted by the outlet she said, “Waiting on final inspections, but almost there!” The CultureMap San Antonio piece also notes that the Sarmiento siblings launched the concept in late 2020 and have since collected local accolades.
Why Critics And Crowds Care
El Pastor’s reputation is rooted in trompo-roasted meats and unapologetic Mexico City flavors that set it apart from typical taquerías. San Antonio Current highlighted a Texas Monthly endorsement from taco editor José R. Ralat, and the siblings earned a 2025 semifinalist nod for Best Chef: Texas on the list published by the James Beard Foundation. For a small counter-service taquería, that is serious bragging rights.
Stone Oak Strategy
"Stone Oak is a growing community that appreciates quality and authenticity, and we're really excited to share our 'estilo CDMX' tacos with a new neighborhood," Brenda told CultureMap San Antonio. The owners say demand from North Side fans helped push the move, and the new location should relieve pressure at the Wurzbach counter once it opens.
Until the Stone Oak outpost opens, the original Wurzbach counter continues to serve the trompo tacos that first drew attention to the Sarmientos' project, as chronicled by Eater. The taquería has also reached national audiences, including a feature on Netflix’s Taco Chronicles, according to reporting by MySA, so Stone Oak is poised to get a widely known addition to its dining roster.
