
The Suffolk County Police have confirmed the identity of a body found in a wooded area of Manorville last week. According to ABC7NY, the deceased is Kathleen Harrison Trent, 63, a resident of Riverhead, previously reported missing by her son on January 29.
Trent was last seen at her home on Forge Road, and following the discovery of the body, the case has transitioned from a missing person search to a murder investigation. The Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad, are now seeking information in relation to the death, which they believe involves foul play.
The loss has affected those who knew Trent. According to ABC7NY, her godsister Kelley Turbush described her as kind and willing to help others. Friend Tanya Burriss said she had hoped for Trent’s safe return and was devastated by the news.
Police have not released a cause of death, and the investigation remains ongoing. Suffolk County Police are asking anyone with information to contact the Homicide Squad at 631-852-6392 or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS, as per PIX11. Friends said they are remembering her for her character and the way she treated others.
