
The Metropolitan Police Department recently announced an arrest following an assault incident that took place on Columbia Road in Northwest Washington, D.C. According to their report, on the evening of Wednesday, February 11, at around 9:30 p.m., an argument within a business escalated when a suspect pulled out a knife. When a second individual intervened in the dispute, they were cut by the suspect, who then promptly fled the scene.
Officers from the Third District who arrived in response to the emergency found the suspect and confiscated a knife. The arrest occurred smoothly, without any further issues. DC Fire and EMS arrived shortly thereafter and provided medical attention to the injured party, who suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Sarita Middleton, 45, from Southeast Washington, D.C., has been identified as the suspect in the case. Following her arrest, she has been charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Knife). The details of the case and Middletons’ involvement were made public in a press release issued on February 12th, a day after the assault.
The incident has stirred concerns among area residents, who are no strangers to the occasional flare-up of violence in their community.
