Two individuals have been apprehended by the Metropolitan Police Department in connection with a recent armed robbery in Northeast Washington, D.C. The incident occurred on Sunday, when the suspects allegedly confronted a person in the 4200 block of Edson Place, brandishing firearms and demanding property. According to the Metropolitan Police Department, no injuries were reported from the incident.
After being alerted to the robbery at 7:34 p.m., officers from the Sixth District promptly responded to the scene. It was determined that the suspects had fled to a nearby apartment. The police executed a search and successfully located both suspects, taking them into custody without any incidents. Recovered at the scene were the victim’s stolen items along with two handguns.
Those charged in connection with the February 1 robbery include 18-year-old Malachi Demar Boahene and a 17-year-old male, both from Southeast, D.C. They face multiple charges, including Robbery while Armed and Carrying a Pistol without a License.
The outcome of the police investigation has led to the filing of formal charges against the two suspects. The quick response and ensuing investigation by the Metropolitan Police highlight continued efforts to address violent street crimes within the D.C. area. With the suspects awaiting further legal proceedings, the community of Northeast sees a momentary reprieve, knowing that the individuals responsible for this particular act of violence are currently behind bars.
