Travelers in Eustis faced a temporary inconvenience yesterday when a portion of Lakeshore Drive, a road that hugs the edge of Lake Eustis, was closed due to a washout. FOX 35 Orlando reported that the section of the road from Clay Boulevard to Eustis Road was deemed hazardous, prompting an immediate response from the local police.
The closure was announced in the late afternoon, around 5 p.m., when the Eustis Police Department, alongside the city's public works department, began assessing the extent of the damage. According to the officials who spoke on the condition Monday evening, motorists were urged to avoid the area and plan alternative routes until further notice. The public's adherence to this advisory was critical to ensuring both their safety and the expediency of the repairs.
Indeed, the inconvenience was short-lived as the Eustis’ Lakeshore Drive welcomed vehicles once again after a swift and successful repair operation. Inside Lake confirmed the roadway's reopening, signalling a return to normalcy for the daily commuters and area residents who rely on this arterial connection between Eustis and Tavares.
