Good news for residents of Tampa looking to upgrade their commute—the City of Tampa's Parking Division has announced the return of the eBike Voucher Program for 2026. Launched in 2023, the initiative has distributed more than 450 vouchers so far, helping citizens get their hands on eco-friendly transportation at a significant discount. This year, as reported by tampa.gov, the program is fueled by $500,000 in funding and is expected to provide up to 248 vouchers.

The vouchers could slash the cost of a new eBike by up to $3,000 depending on the applicant's income level, offering 81 standard vouchers for $1,000 off, 82 low-income vouchers for $2,000 off, and 85 very low-income vouchers for $3,000 off. Should any go unclaimed, a second drawing from the spring's applicants will take place in June, in an statement obtained by tampa.gov.

Starting February 13 at 8 AM and running through February 27 at 5 PM, residents aged 18 and over can submit applications. Prospects have the choice of applying online, in person at one of the four eBike Rodeo events, or directly at the Tampa City's Parking Division offices. What's required? A signed purchase quote from a participating local bike shop—this acts as an eligibility proof but doesn't lock applicants into a purchase unless they're selected for a voucher, which then comes with the stipulation to buy a new helmet.

Tampa is home to a variety of bike shops engaging in this eco-friendly push, including City Bike Tampa, EMOTO Supply Co., and several others. You're not just limited to online forms and office visits—the city will host four eBike Rodeo events throughout February for anyone interested to test-drive these eBikes, ask the City team questions, and fill out their voucher applications.
