A sixteen-year-old from Washington, D.C., has been arrested and charged with gun possession after a group of juveniles was involved in a violent altercation on Wayne Avenue in Silver Spring. According to a press release from the Montgomery County Department of Police, the incident occurred on Monday around 6 p.m. and included more than 20 young individuals.

The confrontation led to a double stabbing after the 16-year-old, along with other suspects, allegedly robbed and assaulted an 18-year-old and another teenager. During the assault, one of the victims, in turn, stabbed two of the male suspects. The 16-year-old now in custody is suspected of having displayed a gun during the robbery and assault.

Upon arrival at the scene at the intersection of Wayne Avenue and Ramsey Avenue, officers discovered two suspects with stab wounds and a third individual with injuries from the fight. The two injured from stabbings were sent to an area hospital, one in a serious condition and the other with lesser injuries. The third injured party declined medical treatment.

Police swiftly apprehended the adolescent who allegedly brandished the firearm during the altercation, and he was then brought to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit. There, he faces robbery and firearm-related charges. The suspect’s identity has not been disclosed due to his age.
