The City of Tulsa’s Financial Empowerment Center (FEC) is marking five years of providing free one-on-one financial counseling to residents. Since opening in December 2020, the FEC has served nearly 8,000 individuals, helping reduce collective debt by $3.3 million and increase savings by $1.3 million, as per the City of Tulsa website.

In November 2025, the FEC expanded its services to include legacy planning, offering legal tools such as Power of Attorney and Last Will & Testament documents.

The program also works with Tulsa Municipal Court, allowing residents to complete financial counseling in place of paying certain fines, resulting in more than $67,000 in waived fees. Completion of three counseling sessions can exempt individuals from $250 in fines.

The FEC operates in partnership with organizations including Goodwill Industries of Tulsa, Tulsa Responds, and multiple referral partners, providing support and resources to help residents improve their financial stability.
