
The City of Concord Police Department has confirmed the arrests of two individuals, 18-year-old Devin Wardell Griffin of Davidson, and 19-year-old William Cornell McDaniel of Concord, in connection to a shooting that took place last Sunday, on Fairington Drive. This information comes directly from an official social media post from the Concord Police Department.
McDaniel, after being identified as a suspect, had a warrant issued for his arrest on Tuesday. He then turned himself in to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department the following day. Charged with two counts of first-degree murder, among other offenses, he is currently held on no bond at the Cabarrus County Jail. Similarly, Griffin faced an issued warrant on Wednesday, and was apprehended in Davidson with the assistance of several law enforcement agencies. Griffin is equally facing serious charges, including two counts of first-degree murder, and is also held at the Cabarrus County Jail without bond.
Both suspects are presently charged with two counts of first-degree murder under N.C.G.S. 14-17, robbery with a dangerous weapon as per N.C.G.S. 14-87, discharging a weapon into an occupied moving vehicle following N.C.G.S. 14-34.1(b), and discharging a weapon into occupied property inflicting serious bodily injury in accordance with N.C.G.S. 14-34.1(c). The police underscored that this remains an active and ongoing investigation and requests anyone with information related to the incident to come forward.
