An unlocked window in a Kingsbridge apartment turned into a quick exit route for a pair of suspected burglars, and now police want the neighborhood’s help tracking them down.
Investigators say the break-in happened on Feb. 23 in the Kingsbridge section of the Bronx, when two people climbed in through an unsecured window, grabbed several articles of clothing and then took off on foot. The suspects have not been caught.
As posted by NYPD Crime Stoppers, the department released still images from the scene and a brief summary of what happened on Feb. 27, asking anyone who recognizes the individuals to speak up. The notice places the incident near Kingsbridge Terrace and West Kingsbridge Road and states the pair went in through an unlocked window before running off.
Tips can be called in to 1-800-577-TIPS or submitted online, and people who contact Crime Stoppers can stay anonymous and may qualify for a reward, according to the NYPD.
Recent Crimes Along The Kingsbridge Corridor
The burglary comes amid a February cluster of street-level crimes in the Kingsbridge area, with recent reports of robberies and assaults around West Kingsbridge Road. As reported by News 12, a separate violent robbery was reported near Davidson Avenue and West Kingsbridge Road earlier this month, adding to a noticeable uptick in police presence in the neighborhood.
Residents and local reporters say investigators frequently lean on home security and door-cam footage to push cases forward, which is why Crime Stoppers blasts like this one tend to spotlight still images and video when they are available.
How To Submit A Tip
Anyone who recognizes the people in the released images or who knows anything about the Feb. 23 break-in is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS, or 1-888-57-PISTA for Spanish. Tips can also be sent in online or through the Crime Stoppers mobile app, the NYPD notes.
According to the department, all Crime Stoppers tips are handled confidentially, and tipsters may be eligible for cash rewards if their information leads to an arrest.
The investigation into the Kingsbridge burglary is ongoing, and no arrests have been announced. Detectives are asking anyone with relevant video or details, no matter how minor they might seem, to reach out so investigators can follow up.
