Gusts could reach 20 to 25 knots (about 23 to 29 mph) this afternoon, but the tradeoff is a dry day for commutes, errands and outdoor plans.
Sun Wins Out After A Breezy Start
Brief light showers were possible around daybreak, especially in eastern Connecticut and eastern Long Island. According to the National Weather Service, north winds around 15 mph will gust from 20 to 25 knots (about 23 to 29 mph), with the strongest breeze arriving from late morning through the afternoon.
Temperatures should climb through the 70s and peak near 76 before easing back after sunset. Monday night stays clear, with a low around 59 and lighter north winds.
Tuesday Starts A Cooler Sunny Stretch
The forecast is a sharper near-term reset from the wetter pattern outlined in an earlier Hoodline forecast. Tuesday looks sunny but cooler, while Wednesday stays dry and sunny.
Thursday reaches near 80 and stays mostly sunny for much of the day, but a low-probability shower chance arrives late Thursday into Friday as a cold front crosses the region. Friday follows, with no specific cloud cover or high stated here, and Friday night follows in the forecast.
Weekend Plans Get A Small Asterisk
Saturday and Sunday could include a more widespread rainfall system in the second half of the weekend.
For beach and boat plans, the National Weather Service stated that rip-current risk was low today and Tuesday for all ocean beaches, and a Small Craft Advisory was in effect through 2 p.m. EDT Monday for marine zones ANZ350 and ANZ353. Otherwise, the city forecast is more about a useful breeze than a weather headache.
