A Van Buren County man won $300,000 playing the Michigan Lottery's Safe Cracker Cashword instant game. The 46-year-old, who wished to remain anonymous, confirmed the win with his wife after checking the ticket multiple times, according to CBS News Detroit.
The winning ticket was purchased at the Broadway Shell at 469 Broadway Street in South Haven. The couple claimed the prize at the Michigan Lottery headquarters in Lansing, as per the WZZM13.
Launched in December 2024, Safe Cracker Cashword has awarded over $31 million in prizes. The $5 scratch-off game offers payouts ranging from $5 to the $300,000 grand prize. According to Michigan’s Thumb, over $4 million in prizes remain, including 23 prizes of $1,000.
The winner plans to save the $300,000. Officials say the game continues to provide prizes to players and generate revenue for the state.
